dc.description.abstract ABSTRACT In this research project, the researcher examined the topic of parenting skills of those adults who have a history of childhood abuse, neglect and trauma and how that experience affects their capacity to be effective parents. The primary objective was to note the factors that promote successful parenting skills and the drive for social workers to understand the connection for clients who are impacted by this social issue. Both the literature review and primary data collected gave out information showing that people who went through childhood abuse can have a hard time bringing up their children if they cannot create attachment, form resilience and protective measures, and learning successful parenting skills. A centered literature search found various articles, books and governmental websites that provided the necessary information used in this research project. A recurring idea throughout many of the said sources was the relevance of effective interventions when dealing with parents to enable them to raise their parenting skills. Another theme idea identified was the impact that the childhood resilience has on the parent's motivations. In most cases, people try hard to avoid the neglectful and abusive parenting techniques that they went through with their children. en_US
