dc.description.abstract ABSTRACT This study sought to examine the contributions of Joyful Women on Women Economic Empowerment in Chesumei constituency, Nandi county Kenya. The objectives of the study was to establish the contribution of Joyful Women to members ability to earn income through sustainable livelihood activities, to establish the access to credit through the group and to examine the contribution of Joyful Women in enhancing market access to its members. A review of literature was conducted to determine the existing knowledge gap on women economic empowerment. The study was guided by a conceptual framework which describes the dependent and independent variables and how their integration brings about women economic empowerment. Research methodology adopted by this study was a survey method and the study targeted the women groups under JOYWO umbrella within Chesumei constituency. The total target population comprised of 92 members and the sample size consisted of 74 respondents. The sample size determination in the study was done using the Krejcie and Morgan formula and reliability of research instruments was established using Pearson Correlation coefficient formula. Both open ended and close ended questionnaires were used. Descriptive statistics was used in the research; questionnaires were edited first for accuracy and completeness. The study used frequency distribution and percentages as a way of analyzing data. From the analysis, the study established that women in Chesumei constituency have been able to obtain loan with ease, access to market for their produce and run successful business enterprises courtesy of JOYWO. They have obtained better business skills from the training offered by the groups. en_US
