dc.description.abstract ABSTRACT The main objective of the study was to assess the effects of corruption in Shabab estate, Nakuru county. Specifically the research sought to understand causes of corruption in the above estate. In addition the study sought to understand what can be done to curb corruption. The study used primary method of data collection which was the questionnaire. The data was analyzed using percentage and represented in graphs and charts. The study employed descriptive case study research design. The target population of the study was the residents of Shabab estate located in Nakuru town. The total number of the residents was 1000 people. The total sample size of this study was 75 respondents who included small business people, drivers, conductors and matatu owners. The findings of the study show that corruption is a hazard in Shabab Estate, hindering economic development in the region. Further the study revealed that there are several factors contributing to corruption. To add on this the study showed ways which can be used to curb corruption. In conclusion the study concluded that corruption is harmful in the estate and should be curbed. Finally the study recommended the government to uphold the law in ending corruption. This recommendation would act significantly if implemented and the residents of Shabab estate will benefit from the implementation by experiencing economic development. en_US
