dc.description.abstract ABSTRACT The general objective of this study was to establish the factors that promote terrorists activities in Kenya taking Nairobi as a case study. Other objectives of this study was to determine the extent to which various factors promote terrorists activities in Kenya as well as to establish the various interventions that can be put in the counterterrorism strategies. The study also sought to establish the extent to which factors like unemployment, high education, religious extremism, porous Kenya-Somalia border, corruption and police brutality promote terrorists activities in Kenya. During the study, primary data was obtained from forty three respondents similarly, secondary data which was obtained from sources like internet, research journals and articles published books, newspapers and magazines was used. Stratified sampling technique was used in the data analysis. The study found that various factors like unemployment, high education, religious extremism, porous Kenya-Somalia border, corruption and police brutality have a hand in as far as increased terror activities is concerned in Kenya. Meanwhile, the study calls for need to enact laws against corruption and prosecute corrupt personnel, need for creation of favourable environment for employment and business opportunities, strengthening the security border patrol units, improved police-civilian co-operation as well as international and regional co-operation in the fight against terrorism. All these recommendations outlined could be a step ahead in combating terrorism in Kenya. Finally, the study suggest for further researches on the future terrorism in Kenya. en_US
