Factors Hindering The Growth And Development Of Tourism In Marsabit County

Abstract

The project consists of five major chapters. The first chapter discusses about the; background of the study- an overview of the factors hindering tourism development and how it has been discussed by different scholars from the international level to the local level and a brief history. The second subsection is the problem statement- the reason behind this research of the factors hindering the growth and development is to investigate what is actually causing the lack of development, if a step is not taken to eliminate these causes, what is likely to happen. The purpose for the study is also discussed in this chapter and it’s to find out the factors hindering the growth and development of tourism in Marsabit County. The objectives for this research are; to find out how insecurity, poor infrastructure, lack of tourism facilities and lack awareness are hindering the growth of tourism in Marsabit County. There are also the challenges that the researcher faced while carrying out the research and these are; financial constraints, time limitation, transportation problems and lack of cooperation from the respondents. Apart from this the researcher also reviewed, the coverage area of Marsabit county, the target group and how long it took for the data to be collected. Discussion on chapter two will be on theoretical revive of literature i.e. what other authors have said about the factors that hinder the growth and development of tourism. It will also show the gap summary i.e. what is it that the researcher will do and have not been done earlier The conceptual framework shows how the objectives of the research have been put into place. Chapter three will discussing on the research design which was used in data collection, the population of the target group, the population frame, the sampling procedures, data collection instrument and data analysis. Chapter four is all about the presentation of findings from the area of study and finally chapter five discusses the summary of major findings in accordance to the research questions. It shows whether the research objectives were met. It also gives the researcher’s recommendations on what the researcher thinks should be done to solve the problem or to ensure tourism development in the region. The chapter also gives the suggestions for further studies.
