dc.description.abstract Antiretroviral default had become a major threat to Oyugis Integrated Project. Persons living with HIV/AIDS who do not take their ARVS as prescribed by the doctors, face a lot of challenges e.g. regular sicknesses because the immune system is weakened and the cd4 count is down. This study which focused on the factors leading to ARVS default among persons living with HIV/AIDS in O.I.P examined the various reasons which resulted to default. The study explored the mechanisms which O.I.P had put in place to curb the default cases. The study also sort to access how persons living with HIV/AIDS in O.I.P cope with the disease. The study used a rationale choice theory founded on the work of john von Neumann 1903- 1957. The study was carried out in Oyugis Integrated Project. Questionnaires were administered to the respondents and interviews to the key informants who were he social workers in O.I.P. The number of respondents who participated in the study were 25. Random sampling was used to obtain the sample size. The findings of this study are expected to help O.I.P in identifying the major reasons which caused default among their clients and hence find possible solution to this problem which will help in reducing mortality rates. en_US
