Abstract:
Prosecution of corruption is a particularly difficult endeavour and successes in this field are still too rare. The detection rate is often low and despite the many efforts that are being made in various sectors to curb corruption, the rates keep on increasing day in day out. The purpose of this study was to examine challenges facing the fight against corruption. The specific objectives were to examine how political will, demand for accountability and secret nature of corruption affects the fight against corruption in Masaba North Sub-County. The study adopted the rational choice theory from which the conceptual framework was developed. A descriptive research design was adopted for this study. The target population comprised of employees of Masaba North Sub-County. All the 50 employees were selected by use of purposive random sampling. A questionnaire was used as the data collection instrument. Data analysis was done using descriptive statistics of frequencies and percentages from SPSS. The findings of the study were presented using tables and charts. The findings of the study were expected to be beneficial through providing necessary information to the EACC and various relevant authorities with the purpose of meeting their objectives.
The result of this study can also be valuable to researchers and scholars as it forms a basis for further research and act as a source of reference material for future researchers on other related topics.
