Studies on ownership have tended to focus on organizational culture rather than organizational structure of the hotels. Many hotels in Kenya are adopting new forms of business ownership patterns hence the need to study if ownership pattern affects the industrial relations and employment. The relationship among workers of any organization is of key importance in the prosperity or it excellence. The study looked into how the industrial relation of different hotels was affected by the Ownership pattern and the Management patterns. The objectives of the study were to find out how management structures affect hotel performance, to find out how ownership patterns influence performance in hotel industry and to find out how management patterns impact on performance. Which also formed the literature review .The study enumerated a total of 44 employees consisting of 28 staff member and 16 Managers obtained from InterContinental Hotel and Sarova Hotel in Nairobi. The research design used was descriptive. They were surveyed using a questionnaire and the data collected from the study was run using SPSS version 21 and Ms. Excel software’s. Data analysis was done using descriptive statistics i.e. mean, median, mode, percentages and frequencies. It was presented in form of graphs, pie charts and tables. The study found out that the management pattern and the ownership pattern of the hotels, affected their industrial relation among its employees who in return affected their performance hence calling for more actions on the part of various stakeholders in identifying and remedying the possible issues that may be there to streamline hotel operations within their hotels. |
