dc.description.abstract This article reviews conceptual and theoretical issues in municipal solid waste management. Definitions and explanation of different concepts in municipal solid waste management are assessed. This article also examines the integrated sustainable waste management framework to determine its relevance in developing countries context. It further analyses measures by different stakeholders in coping with the problems of solid waste management practices and factors that influence the choice of the coping mechanisms. Finally the article provides a synthesis in form of a conceptual framework that may be adopted in aiding in formulation and design of sustainable municipal solid waste management practices. en_US
