dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate how information is being disseminated to pastoral communities in Kenya, specifically the Maasai community living in Narok County. This study was carried out due to the fact that, despite the availability of information resources and services in Kenya they rarely reach the pastoral communities. The study therefor investigated means and format through which information can be disseminated to the pastoral communities in Kenya. their information needs, their information seeking behavior, problem information providers are facing in these area and made recommendations to address them. Chapter two deals with literature review; touching on all issue of information dissemination to the pastoral communities in Kenya. Chapter three expounds at length on the research methodology. The areas covers include research design which was a form of a case study, study locale which was Maasai community, target population which included 20 people, comprising of the administrator, teachers, opinion leader and scholars, sampling strategy, questionnaires were adopted for data collection tools. Chapter four deals with data analysis whereby the data collected was analyzed and interpreted. Chapter five comes up with findings, conclusion and recommendations. Among the findings, it was established that almost 40% of the Maasai community are illiterate therefore not able to read or write. The literate in the area lack information resources due to negligence by government to build resource centers and stock them with the necessary information resources. Further to this, the study recommended a policy advice to the government in regard to equitable distribution of information resources and als0 suggested further research to the problem. en_US
