dc.description.abstract Motorcycles taxis form an emerging popular mode of transport for passengers and goods in Kenya. The demand for motorcycles as a mode of transport has soured in recent years. The mode is increasingly becoming popular, more economical and efficient mean of transport amongst Kenyans. It provides cheap and reliable transport to un-accessible rural areas as well as urban areas. Their ability to maneuver traffic jams as well as low fuel consumption and pocket friendly fares have won them a niche in the transport sector. However, the motorcycles have increasingly become a monster in our Kenyan road by claiming lives of many causing injuries, disabilities and even death hence leading to health and economic burden to many families. The study was carried out in Kisii Municipality, Kisii County, Kenya. The study investigated the influence of accident related factors on motorcycle fatal accidents using logistic regression model. The study aimed at finding out possible ways of reducing motorcycle related accidents and provision of baseline data for establishment of prevention strategies as well as treatment protocols in the County and Kenya at large. In the study, data was collected using questionnaires, interviews and observation techniques. Hundred motorcyclists were reached for the study. Data obtained was analyzed statistically by tables and charts using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS). Chi-square test was used to compare relationships between variables. Logistic Regression model was also used. en_US
