ABSTRACT
So as to reach the youths effectively with messages, social media presents opportunity in dissemination of health information and knowledge sharing and enabling them to make decisions on their health. Interventions have been used to reach youths aiming at reducing the infection but studies directly addressing the use of social media in youths and HIV and AIDS sensitizations are limited. The study looked at the use of social media on sensitizing youths on the HIV and AIDS in Narok County. The study objectives include; to investigate the types of social media used by youths in Narok county, to assess the Knowledge on mode of transmission of HIV/AIDS among youths in Narok county, to assess the attitudes of youths towards people living with HIV/AID in Narok County and to investigate the influence of social media on knowledge and awareness of HIV/AIDS among youths in Narok county. This study will use descriptive survey design. The researcher will target youths in Narok County. The researcher used simple random sampling to select a sample size. Questionnaires will be use as research instruments. The data will be collected from questionnaires and will be cleaned, coded and analyzed by the use of descriptive statistics by the help of Microsoft Excel spread sheet computer programs. Responses from closed-ended questions will be checked for completion, recorded and the responses transferred into a summary sheet for tabulation. To determine the frequencies of each response, the numbers of respondents giving similar answers will be converted to percentages. The findings will be presented using frequency tables, figures and charts. |
