Internal Communication is the formal and informal communication taking place within all levels in an organization. It may also be referred to as the transmission of information between organizational members or parts of the organization. It takes place across all levels and organizational units of an organization. In order to have effective internal communication, various considerations have to be put in place including; audience diversity in terms of demographics such as age, gender, technological know- how and geographical location, ability to adopt to contemporary forms of communication such as social media sites, email, posters, small group meetings and even formulation of an intranet, using the most appropriate tools of disseminating information and all this accompanied by regular dissemination of information to the target publics. By adopting effective strategies, various influences arise towards the publics including facilitating timely communication that causes prompt feedback, averting probable wrangles and conflicts between publics concerning issues which are not well addressed and providing schedules under which various activities are to be done in the institution. The adoption of various internal communication techniques also goes a long way in providing timely and adequate information to the target publics and inevitably increases the reputation and consumer service delivery of an organization. |
