Communication is a tool that when implemented well, there is exchange of information; if its channels and flow are considered, there is mutual understanding, peaceful and successful achievement of organizational goals. This same tool; communication, when ignored or delayed it becomes the beginning of problems in an organization. Communication is regarded important and very essential in all walks of life be it in businesses, churches, learning institutions, offices or even at homes. For communication to occur there are several factors to consider such as the message one intends to send, the purpose of the message, the channels to use, target audience; the receiver of the message among others. For communication to be effective, there should be feedback. The sender of the message should consider getting the response from the receiver. Feedback allows the sender of the message to confirm if the message was understood as intended or not thus making communication a continuous process. In the study, the researcher advocates for two way symmetric communication. This is a communication platform that allows both parties (sender and receiver) to share information, ideas and experiences in life. Two way Symmetric communication creates a forum for convincing and persuasion hence mutual understanding is enhanced especially when making policies, making decisions or when two (or more) parties are warring. |
