dc.description.abstract The Human Resource component of recruitment and selection is considered as the initial and most essential practice that all organizations need to put serious consideration on. Better recruitment and selection strategies result in improved organizational outcomes. The more effectively organizations recruit and select candidates, the more likely they are to hire and retain satisfied employees. This study aims to come up with the effects of recruitment and selection on the performance of workers at Kisii Bottlers; to find out the challenges faced in relation to the recruitment and selection process at Kisii Bottlers and to establish the strategies to be put in place to enhance the recruitment and selection process at Kisii Bottlers. The study used a descriptive case study on a target population of 206 respondents in which the sample population was 41 respondents. A questionnaire was used as an instrument of data collection. The data was analyzed and presented by the use of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and then presented by the use of tables and figures. The response in the case study was 100%. It was established that the effects were consistency at work, credibility of recruitment, more transparency, high morale, less grievances, high retention of workers, more free time for supervisors, reduced costs in trainings, more loyalty and client satisfaction. The challenges that presented themselves during recruitment and selection included time taken to recruit, nature of the job vacancy, costs and expenses to be incurred, recruitment strategies of the organization and the political socio- legal environment. The strategies which were recommended to be put in place were; fairness and equitability during hiring, second opinion before employment, involvement of current employees, poaching, E- recruitment, ongoing trainings having an employee sponsorship, having a clear and precise job description and outsourcing for employees. All in all organizations must work towards embracing new and effective approaches to recruitment and selection and move from the usual traditional processes. en_US
